Churros are god’s gift to the world. There is nothing better than that crunchy cinnamon outside and the soft inside, dipped in chocolate. They definitely take me back to the good old days when I was a kid and had nothing to worry about and I would be on the way to our quarterly Disney trips. For those of you who have been to Disney, I am assuming you have tried their churros before, cause if not you are missing out. I don’t know what Disney does to their churros but they definitely put some crack in it cause those things are amazing.
They also remind me of our family outings. I don’t know if you guys have heard of Morro Castle in Hialeah, but if you have you know about their churros and hot chocolate, and if you haven’t then I definitely recommend checking them out for their churros and hot chocolate. Oh, and you can try the other delicious Cuban food they have on their menu. For some reason, after eating at any other restaurant, doesn’t matter, could have been the world’s finest and expensive restaurant, we would always end up here, to continue to eat, because you know that’s what Cuban’s do, we just eat, eat and eat. But our main reason to go to Morrow Castle was for the churros and hot chocolate. I haven’t been back in years and now that I am thinking about it, I may make a must go to stop on my next trip down to Miami.
I got this recipe from one of my mom’s aunt, Rosita, who lives in Texas. She would visit us every once in a while, and when she would come over, we would spend the WHOLE day cooking food and this is one of the ones that she showed me how to make. I combined it with my mom’s delicious homemade hot chocolate so you can dip the churros in it. I hope you guys enjoy and let me know what you think!
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Butter melted
- 2½ Cups Flour
- Cinnamon sugar
Instructions
- Heat oil to 325F.
- In a bowl combine all the ingredients and stir. Place picture into a pipping bag. If you don’t have a pipping bag, got the corner off a Ziploc bag.
- When the oil is hot squeeze a line of the mixture, through the pipping bag, into the oil and cut at the end with a scissor or knife. I typically make them the length of the frying container. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until golden brown. Be careful, sometimes they pop open and can splatter oil.
- Remove from oil and place on a plate and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top.
- Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 7 oz
Sweet chocolate bar
- 3 cups Milk
- 1 can
Sweet condensed milk
Instructions
- With the stove on low/medium heat, combine the ingredients in a pot and stir till the chocolate is completely melted and dissolved. Bring to a boil and then turn off the heat. If there are still tiny specks of chocolate you can either use an emulsifier or place in a blender.
- Serve along with churros and enjoy!
