Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie Recipe

I don’t know about you guys, but when I was in college I used to go to Chili’s almost every week! Maybe it was because it was one of the only places that I can get away with using my fake ID and enjoy some basic margaritas, but for dessert I would always get their  skillet chocolate chip cookie topped with some vanilla ice cream and it was so damn good. That cookie was so warm, fresh, and delicious, although it was probably sitting in a heater in the back. So I figured I would share my own  recipe with you all for an actual fresh chocolate chip skillet cookie topped with some vanilla ice cream!

What if I don’t have a skillet?

If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can still enjoy this delicious chocolate chip skillet cookie recipe, just use a cake pan instead and it should taste just as good!

What kind of chocolate do you use?

A lot of bakers like to use semi-sweet chocolate chips for their recipes. I love to use good old milk chocolate chips. The sweeter the dessert is, the better in my opinion.

How do you make a chocolate chip skillet cookie?

  • Separate your dry and wet ingredients: In a bowl, combine your baking powder, flour, and salt. In a stand mixer, add your brown sugar, white sugar, and butter. Mix on medium speed until it is light and fluffy. Add your eggs one at a time making sure they are well incorporated. Finally, add your vanilla.
  • Add your dry ingredients: Slowly add your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients. Combining about ¼ cup at a time.
  • Add your chocolate chips: Once your dough is made, add your chocolate chips and mix on medium speed for about 1-2 minutes. Don’t over mix it because it can cause your cookie to come out having a cake like texture.
  • Bake: Place the dough in a 10 or 12 inch skillet and bake in the oven at 375F for about 45 minutes. (If you like your cookie slightly raw in the middle only cook for 35-40 minutes)
  • Serve: Once the cookie is out of the oven, allow it to slightly cool for about 10 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream on top and enjoy!

If you want to be fancy, top the cookie with flaky sea salt, just to give it that final touch!
