Red Sangria Recipe

Red Sangria Recipe

When I think of sangria, I think of our weekly family dinners at our favorite cuban restaurants, where they would bring out a plastic pitcher of sangria with fruits that look like they came out of those lunch fruit cups you would have as a kid. Ever since then I’ve never been a huge fan of sangria, especially since I like my wine full body and strong. But then I created this sangria recipe and honestly I will never look at sangria the same way again, it’s that good, I promise. Especially after the fruits have soaked up all that alcoholic goodness!

What kind of wine should I use in my sangria?

Sangria has to be made with a light wine, like a pinot noir or any spanish table wine. Once you add all the other ingredients everything will work in harmony to give you a nice, smooth, strong, and flavorful drink.

Do I have to add club soda?

Growing up a lot of the sangrias I saw being made were typically made with sprite or any other carbonated lime flavored drink. I personally love carbonation, but some people don’t, so i love to add club soda to my sangria instead of sprite. It gives you the carbonation you want without the processed soda taste that sprite gives. If you do not like the fizzy part, it’s ok, just remove it from the recipe. But I will say that something about the fizz makes it seem so much more refreshing.

What fruits should I put in my sangria?

This is the best part of sangria, there is no correct answer! You can use whichever fruits are in season, but typically it is made with light summer refreshing fruits. Honestly, go with whatever you love.
