I have always wanted to create my own spices, so since I started this blog, I have been mixing different spices together to see how they taste. Obviously one of the first ones I created was a Cuban seasoning blend, let’s just say it is my own version of sazon completo. Since my blog is named “For the Love of Sazon” I figured it was only appropriate to share my sazon with you all.
You can buy your own Sazon Completo at the store, but what’s the fun in that?! Also, I’ve been told by several people that their local grocery store doesn’t carry any Latin products, making it difficult for them to make some of these recipes. Well now you will never have that issue again because making your own sazon completo as is easy as one, two, three. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the recipe below.
What is in this Cuban seasoning blend?
This blend is made with a mix of garlic powder, salt, black pepper, onion powder, oregano, and cumin. It has the perfect balance of all of them together so that no one spice over powers the other and it gives you the taste of authentic Cuban food.
What can you use it on?
You can use this Cuban seasoning blend on pretty much any types of meat you like. I find that the best food to use it on is:
- Pork Chops
- Pork Loins
- Chicken thigh or legs
- Baby back ribs
- Black beans or red beans
It pretty much goes well on any dish you can make to give it that extra Cuban flare!
How long is it good for?
I typically combine all the seasonings together, mix it and then store it an empty spice container. This should allow the blend to stay fresh for about 9 months to a year.
