Brunch season is in full effect and I think now is the appropriate time to show you all how to make Agua De Valencia (Valencian Water). Please make sure you don’t have anything important to do after brunch because I promise you, you won’t be getting to it after a few of these drinks. I consider it the long island iced tea of Spain. With a mix of cava or champagne, vodka, gin, and orange juice, you will be leaving brunch walking a little wobbly so make sure to order yourselves an uber or lyft afterwards.
What are the ingredients in agua de valencia?
Agua De Valencia is made with freshly squeezed orange juice (or bottled OJ for my people in the back), a bottle of cava, a little bit of vodka and some gin. You basically mix all these ingredients in a pitcher and serve! Easy, simple, and straightforward.
What is cava?
Cava is a spanish sparkling wine similar to champagne. It is made in and imported from Spain. You can typically find it at your local liquor store. If you are unable too, don’t stress about it and just use whatever sparkling wine you can find. Don’t go crazy on buying the really expensive bottles. It won’t make a huge difference.
How can I make agua de valencia sweeter?
You can either add more orange juice to the mixture or simply add sugar! There is no real amount and I typically drink it as is, so taste as you add to get the flavor profile you enjoy!
Is this drink really strong?
Be warned, we love to taste the alcohol in our drinks in this family so this does tend to be on the stronger side for some. If you want to start off slow and add half the amount of gin and vodka please do. If you want it stronger feel free to add as much as you would like. This recipe is good to my taste.
