Cuban Frita Sliders

Ingredients

  • ½ lb. Lean ground beef
  • ½ lb. Chorizo links
  • 1 tlbs Salt
  • 1 tlbs Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • cup Onions Diced
  • 1 cup Bread Crumb
  • 1 Egg
  • 10 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup Red onions diced

Fries

  • 3 Russet potatoes
  • Oil
  • Salt

Spicy Mayo Ketchup

  • cup Ketchup
  • cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper

Instructions

  • Remove the outer covering of the chorizo by making a hole in the tip and squeezing the chorizo out. 
  • In a bowl, combine the chorizo, ground beef, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, cumin, diced onion, bread crumbs, and egg. Mix to combine all the ingredients. 
  • Break the meat apart, and roll into about 1-1 ½ inch balls. Flatten the ball to make about ¼ inch patty. 
  • To make the fries, use a deep fryer or a large pot, heat up about a 1-2 inches of oil, until 350F.  Wash the russets potatoes and julienne them (Cut into thin long strips to make thin fries.) Once the oil is hot, place the thinly cut fries inside, and cook for about 1-2 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from oil, and sprinkle salt. 
  • To make the patties, generously coat a pan with oil and heat over low-medium heat.  Once hot, place the sliders into the pan. Cook for two minutes, then flip. Cook for three minutes, flip one more time, and place the cheese on top. Cover the pan with a lid and let the cheese melt. About 1 minute. 
  • While the sliders are cooking, combine the ketchup, mayo, red wine vinegar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika in a bowl. Stir to combine. 
  • Dice the red onion and set aside. 
  • When the sliders are finished being cooked, you are ready to build your frita sliders. Place the patty on the bread, add the diced onions and fries on top, spread the spicy ketchup mayo mix on the top bun and place it on the burger. I hope you enjoy!
