Cut the ends of the plantains using a knife. Make three long cuts through the skin from the top to the bottom of the plantain on three different sides. Peel each slit off.
Cut the plantain in chunks about 1-2 inches thick.
Heat up your air fryer to 375F.
Spray the plantains with oil and place them in the air fryer for 7 minutes.
Remove the plantains after 7 minutes and using a tostonera, or any flat object, smash the plantain flat, to about ¼ of an inch thick.
Place the smashed plantain back into the air fryer again at 375 for 5 minutes, flipping them halfway.
